Vega Professional Tenor Banjo

A beautiful example of the professional line of Vega tenor banjos. This banjo has been kept in first class condition and was professionally played until recent by Hamburg jazz player Horst Pantel. I have sold a few banjos over the past year or so owned by Horst and I have to say he treats them with high respect and tender care. The supplied photographs show the condition of this banjo which is remarkable and of course I have given the banjo a fresh polish and Trad setup as it had been previously set up for jazz playing. Lets take a look at the fine details…..

Banjo details

Made in Boston, Mass. serial # which dates the banjo to 1928. The banjo is mostly original apart from the upgraded Schaller (German made) geared tuners and ODE/OME tailpiece. The resonator side walls are  pyrilan ivoroid with cream binding and figured maple back. All metal is nickel plated in excellent condition, including the shoes, hooks, nuts, flange plates etc. The rim is made from 1/2″ maple ply, 28 brackets and flange plates, 19 fret ivoroid-bound ebony fingerboard with fancy pearl floral inlays, Vega armrest, fancy pearl inlays on headstock, 30mm nut width and 23″ scale length. The neck is straight and plays beautifully up the fret board with good frets. It has been very well cared for over its life time, so why not own a classic banjo which stands out from the crowd. Comes with original vintage case in good restored condition.
