Paramount Style C Tenor Banjo
A very beautiful Paramount Style C 19 fret tenor banjo from the famous Rettburg & Lange banjo company from the roaring 20’s. I have restored many Paramount C’s but this particular one is an absolute gem to play and to look at. This Style C has a natural light mahogany finish, laminated maple/mahogany rim, laminated mahogany resonator, laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. The Style C banjo is one of Paramount’s most attractive designs, richly decorated with elaborate wood marquetry and very fancy engraved pearl inlay. The overall look is high gloss finished mahogany with chain pattern wood edging, wood checkered binding, and coloured wood inlay. The mahogany neck is of multi laminate construction with carved heel, carved peg head back and multilayered wood binding with a chain marquetry inlay up the sides. The head stock is decorated with an extremely fancy engraved pearl inlay and the fingerboard has shaped and engraved pearl in a flying bird motif. Hardware includes the Paramount adjustable tailpiece and the hotdog style arm rest. Selling originally for $185, the Style C was a relatively affordable but still upscale professional grade tenor Banjo. This banjo has been re-chromed and re-lacquered and is almost in new condition, obviously the previous owner wanted this banjo restored to top condition. The neck is straight and has had a complete re-fret, so no future worries about this banjo’s play-ability. I have upgraded the original Jos Rogers goat skin head for a brighter more powerful 11 2/16″ Weather King renaissance head. comes with new strings and handmade bridge and vintage case. The original page 8 tuners were replaced with top grade chrome plated Gibson geared tuners which I believe cost around £220 Quick summary
