Paragon CE Tenor Banjo



Clifford Essex Paragon CE model built around 1930. The pot construction is all original and the neck was professionally made by Rob Aylward around 2012. Some original features from the plectrum neck have been used in the construction of the new neck. The Paragon has been described as having a rich sweet mellow tone and responsive to the touch. Specially constructed from the very best seasoned materials to withstand climate change. All metal parts are solid brass with nickel plating throughout.

Banjo features

The neck is constructed from maple sandwiched with mahogany centre strip to add stability and has a two way truss rod installed accessable from the heal. The fingerboard is handsomely inlaid with engraved mother of pearl with the metal shield inlaid into the headstock. The original Page tuners with ivory buttons all work perfectly and hold tuning well. The string action is set low and is a dream to play. The heavy 3/4″  rim construction is made from maple with mahogany veneer overlay. The top tension band features a scalloped hoop with 24 hooks & nuts, solid block shaped shoes with circular holes cut around the flange. Original adjustable CE tailpiece and adjustable armrest. Fitted with white smoothtop head and maple/ebony bridge. Comes with a vintage solid case, possiblt B&D made.
