Framus Contessa 19 fret tenor banjo, made in Germany around the 1960’s. All original and in great very clean condition, with hardly any play wear. Great to see this banjo has the original Contessa head with the printed name still in tact. This banjo has the top-tension design, rosewood fingerboard, radiused fingerboards and multi laminated neck which just will not warp and is perfectly straight. It also has the internal bracket which can adjust the string height (great Greman engineering). The tuners were upgraded to barrel geared tuners but the original side mounted ones are included with the banjo and if preferred can be switched back with no damage or filled holes. It has the original decorative aluminium arm rest and aluminium pot flanges which are in good shape. Maple resonator is in great condition with no surface scratches. Rosewood Fingerboard with simple MOP dot position markers. Great sounding banjo and not too heavy to rest on your lap. Comes with what looks like the original hardshell case also in great condition.
