Epiphone Style A 17 fret Tenor Banjo

About the banjo
Probably the only short scale Epiphone A in existence. This is the early 20’s model first generation heavy tone ring model which started its life as a plectrum 22 fret tenor banjo. It was professionally converted to a short scale 17 fret tenor banjo using the original head stock, by Edinburgh luthier Jock Westwater. It is perfect in every way and shaped precisely as any other Epiphone professional model with an added trust rod for extra stabability. The neck is made from rock maple with a centre ebony strip and checkered wood marquetry side walls. The headstock is decorated with decorative floral designs with the Epiphone name & Style A branding. The ebony fretboard has the diamond MOP markers and all new frets and bone nut. The heavy duty 3/4″ maple rim has the bottom mounted one piece flange on the bottom and heavy duty cast pot metal scalloped hoop on top which holds the archtop tone ring. The tone ring is actually from the Epiphone professional ‘Superb’ line which is an added bonus. The banjo is fitted with a new Remo renaissance head and hand made bridge. Comes with original vintage case in good serviceable condition. The banjo was recently professionally lacquer sprayed at the McIlroy guitar factory, Antrim. This banjo must be seen and heard to be believed. See details below (more photos to be added soon)
