Epiphone Recording A Tenor Banjo
Epiphone Recording ‘A’ 19 fret tenor banjo with the larger 11 – 3/4″ pot. This is the early 20’s model first generation heavy tone ring model similar to the dragonhead flange and tone ring setup with the 3/4″ ply rim. Maple 3 piece neck with ebony sandwiched in between. The fingerboard is ebony with cream binding and checked wood marquetry. The neck is decorated with diamond style position markers and the head plate is rosewood with an elaborate inlaid design of mother of pearl. Quality Gotoh geared tuners with ivoroid buttons . Straight neck with low playing action right up the fret board. Fitted with handmade German strings 12, 18w, 28w, and 38w gauge which is perfect for playing Irish trad. The sound of these banjos has to be heard to be believed, the tone is vibrant, powerful and far reaching, yet when played lightly moving the pick away from the bridge it has a low lilting sweetness and sonorous in quality.
The resonator is made from figured maple with checker wood marquetry bands along the sides. Deluxe clamshell tailpiece with engraved etching designs. Comes with well fitted vintage case with red felt lining. The overall condition of this banjo is in excellent shape including the original lacquer
