Bacon Blue Ribbon Deluxe Tenor Banjo
A magnificent example of Fred Bacon’s top of the range short scale 17 fret tenor banjos. This little treasure has been in the collection of a fine playing top jazz banjoist from Edinburgh, and he has kept it in perfect condition for many years. The neck grade figured maple with the finely carved heel really sets this banjo off and a nice touch with the celuloid heel cap with the engraving ‘Blue Banner Deluxe’. The head stock also bears the ‘Blue Ribbon’ name in mother of pearl with white binding surround. The gold plated tuners are planet 5 star, all working perfectly and holding tune. The ebony neck is perfectly straight and I’ve set the action low,so it plays easily up the board.
The maple rim is fitted with the 40 hole silverbell tone ring, so you can imagine the sound from this banjo. the original hooks were replaced for newer stewmac nickel plated ones although the originals are also included, the gold plating has worn from them. The flush fitted resonator is beautifully grained maple which is contoured in the inside to reflect the sound through the tone ring holes.
Banjo comes with original brown leather case in good condition.
The overall finish is a antique gold
