1920’s Epiphone Rialto Tenor Banjo

1920’s Epiphone Rialto 19 fret tenor banjo. All original and in great condition, has been upgraded with a Tomann tone ring producing an amazing tone. The Rialto, Peerless and Mayfair featured in the 1930’s Epiphone catologue along with the professional recording models. Basically you had the same rim used in the Recording range but a fraction of the price, and this was most attractable to many customers living in the jazz hay days of the 1920’s. Banjo details The 5 piece neck is made from dark American walnut sandwiched with 2 centre strips of maple. The ebony fingerboard is bound with white Pyralin and inlaid with neatly designed mother of pearl position markers. The peg head is pearl Pyralin with attractive hand engraved and coloured ornamentation. Fitted with original Grover Tab 2 geared tuners all working perfectly. The frets are original with very little play wear and the action is set very low, measuring 2.5mm at the 12 fret. The resonator looks very similar to the Recording A model, made from walnut with double rings of maple wood inlay on the back and also on the side walls. The rim sits on a heavy nickel plated flange which house the 24 hooks and nuts. Waverly style tailpiece and new armrest, recently fitted with new Remo renaissance head and bridge, new strings gauged 12,17,26,36. It is a very easy banjo to play and has been setup for Irish Trad playing, would suit a student 12+looking to upgrade to a quality vintage banjo. Comes with a new hardshell case Sold
